What is Center Awareness Day?
Every year on October 19, we come together to celebrate the vital role that LGBTQ+ Centers play in our communities. As LGBTQ+ issues gain increased recognition locally, nationally, and globally, this day serves as a powerful platform to raise awareness about the profound impact of LGBTQ+ Centers.
LGBTQ+ Center Awareness Day is our chance to:
- Highlight the essential contributions of LGBTQ+ Centers in neighborhoods and on campuses.
- Recognize the dedication of our supporters and volunteers.
- Educate the world about our mission and accomplishments.
CenterLink has championed LGBTQ+ Center Awareness Day, inspiring a deeper understanding of the incredible work that LGBTQ+ Community Centers do for their communities. Join us in making a difference and raising awareness. Together, we create change and foster acceptance.

Our Story
In the heart of so many towns and cities across the nation, there exists a place where love, acceptance, and empowerment flourishes. These places are none other than the vibrant LGBTQ+ Community Centers.
Picture this: within the walls of these Centers, magic happens. People find refuge from the storms of discrimination and prejudice. They discover a safe space where they can be their authentic selves, free from judgment. These Centers offer a myriad of services, a lifeline to those who need them most.
They provide social services, offering a helping hand to those in need. Mental health counseling is readily available, offering solace to those grappling with the heavy burdens of life. Cultural programs celebrate diversity, while recreational activities fill the air with laughter. Libraries offer knowledge and solace, and educational programs open doors to a brighter future. Support groups foster connections and understanding, while youth and elder support offer a sense of belonging. Computer access is a gateway to opportunities, and care and treatment are a beacon of hope for those facing health challenges.
These Centers are the heartbeats of the LGBTQ+ community, the guiding lights in the darkest of times. But they need support, and they need champions. Champions like all of us, when we work together we can make a huge difference.
Enter CenterLink: The Community of LGBTQ+ Centers. They envision a day when these Centers shine even brighter, when their importance is recognized far and wide.
And so, on October 19th, every year, CenterLink brings forth "LGBTQ+ Center Awareness Day." It's a day of action, a day of unity, a day of celebration. This is the day when we, as a nation, come together to honor the vital services provided by these community Centers and acknowledge the central roles they play in our local communities.
But this day is more than just a celebration; it's a call to action. It's an invitation for everyone, LGBTQ+ Centers, and LGBTQ+ supporters alike, to join the movement.
